Latest News  >  Photos of first production Seaboat

The owner of the first Scott Boats 21 foot Seaboat has sent these photos from the Hauraki Gulf, Auckland.

The boat has an aluminium hull custom designed by Konrad to take advantage of the handling and performance of the GM L76 6.0 litre V8 engine and Scott 852 two stage jet.

The boat has exceeded all expectations of the owner, who wanted a quick, open-bow boat capable of handling the waters of the Hauraki Gulf, Bay of Islands and Coromandel, with 8-10 people comfortably on board. Importantly he wanted to be able to cross the bars of the small estuaries and rivers along the east coast and have a draught shallow enough to let passengers off onto the beaches.

The stability at speed has opened up a whole new range of fishing spots for the owner. Apart from the shallow draft the most striking advantages over propeller driven boats are the acceleration and the handling. It is an extremely exciting drive. Turns and stops pretty much on the spot and takes off like a racing car.

The two stage 8.5 inch jet is able to use all the 400 horsepower of the L76 and gives the boat a top speed of 45 knots. The distinctive bimini frame and cover and styling really stand out on the water, without restricting access around the boat.

A new slightly smaller model - 5.125 metres, with a 470hp LS3, and a Scott two stage 8.5 inch jet is already under construction. This will also be a bow rider, with a swim platform. It is constructed to deliver the great handling of every Scott hull, and designed to be ideal for estuaries, fjords, sounds, lakes and harbours of New Zealand.
